Welcome to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Vizcaya is a National Historic Landmark; we're also a museum owned by Miami-Dade County and accredited by the American Association of Museums. Vizcaya is open to the public 364 days each year, and we invite you to visit this serene and stunningly beautiful retreat in the heart of Miami.

Built by agricultural industrialist James Deering in 1916, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens features a main house, ten acres of formal gardens, a rockland hammock (native forest), and soon-to-be-restored historic village.

New at Vizcaya

We are currently undertaking restoration and enhancement of Vizcaya. This work involves changes in exterior circulation, but should not impact your visit to the Main House and gardens.

Construction requires that we temporarily move our main entrance approximately 220 yards to the south beginning Monday, August 2, 2010 for a 2-3 week period.  Please follow the signage and direction of security officers to easily make your way into Vizcaya.

In addition, the construction will temporarily require a new accessible route for wheelchair users once at the ticket booth. The accessible entrance to the main house, the gardens, and the restrooms is approximately 375 yards from the ticket booth area. We anticipate this phase of restoration to be completed in the fall of 2010 and apologize for the inconvenience.
